Beyond Church Doors

At Rivanna, we are committed to loving the world around us whether this be serving oversees, serving in the local Charlottesville area, or simply being a light in our jobs, neighborhoods, or family. Check out what Rivanna is doing to love the world around us.

Betel’s mission is to bring long-term freedom and restoration to lives broken by drug and alcohol abuse. They accomplish this by building values, skills and character through living, working and worshipping together in a caring Christian community.

Haiti Support Initiative

Congo Health and Development Fund
Working with our missionaries the La Rochelle's and through this organization, Rivanna supports internally displaced people in Bunia, Congo.

Local

Missionaries  We Support

Larochelle Family

Anna and Patrick LaRochelle are medical missionaries who have worked in northeastern Democratic Republic of Congo since 2015. Anna is a family nurse practitioner and Patrick specializes in both internal medicine and pediatrics. They have 3 children: Luke, Miriam, and Isaiah. Patrick and Anna are sent by Serge, a non-denominational Christian mission sending agency.  The LaRochelles are proud and grateful to call Rivanna Community Church their sending church.

Joe Nelson

Young Life's mission is "to introduce adolescents to Jesus Christ and help them grow in their faith".  Young Life’s middle school branch, WyldLife, is active in every state in the US and in over 60 countries worldwide.  Nearly 25,000 students are regularly hearing about Jesus at outreach “club” events, and almost 10,000 students are being discipled and engaging in regular Bible studies. Joe's role as WyldLife National Initiatives Coordinator is to train, equip, and encourage hundreds of staff and thousands of volunteers around the US serving in WyldLife leadership roles.  Joe's wife, Becca also volunteers with Young Life and they love sharing Christ and their lives with students.

Lyn Myers Doyle

Lyn  is a missionary with UrbanPromise Wilmington, and a former member of RCC.  She has been serving with UrbanPromise since 2016 in a variety of roles and cares deeply for marginalized communities. The mission of UrbanPromise Wilmington is to equip children and young adults through Christ with the skills necessary for academic achievement, life management, personal growth and servant leadership. UrbanPromise does this through two schools, teen job training programs, after-school programs, summer camps, sports programs, and outdoor adventure programs.
